Cedar Falls sweeps way to third straight state volleyball tournament

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The Cedar Falls volleyball team wasted no time. The top ranked Tigers needed just 56 minutes to sweep past 15th ranked Marshalltown and advance to the class 5A state tournament for the third straight year.

The Tigers won by scores of 25-10, 25-15, and 25-9.

Cedar Falls (40-2) earned the top seed and will face eighth seeded Urbandale (24-13) in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, November 7 to open state tournament play.

    The Cedar Rapids Kernels registered eight doubles and scored the first eight runs of Monday’s 10-4 triumph over the Lake County Captains in the rubber game of a three-game series at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
