CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A former Hawkeye First Team All Big Ten Player is climbing the ladder in the indoor football league.

Marvin McNutt was named Monday as the new General Manager of the Cedar Rapids Titans, an indoor football team that heads into it's seventh season. McNutt served as the teams coach for the 2017 season in what was his first taste of indoor football. The Titans were 1-15 under McNutt. He'll now oversee the football operations department.

A former Iowa football player, McNutt played for the Hawkeyes from 2007 to 2011 before a short stint in the NFL.

Billy Back, the Indoor Football League's 2016 Coach of the Year, has been named the new head coach of the Titans. Back comes after two seasons with the Wichita Falls Nighthawks who had a 23-9 record that included the team's first playoff appearance in 2016. In ten years of coaching, Back has earned an overall record of 105-36 and four championship seasons. He also played in the league for several years.

McNutt will also assist Back with coaching the wide receivers and with offensive plays.

A meet and greet to meet the new coach will be held sometime later this week. The upcoming Titan's season will begin in February.
