DYERSVILLE (KWWL) -

Tom Jenk Jr., the legendary, long time coach of the Dyersville Beckman baseball team died on Sunday at the age of 64. Jenk had been battling brain cancer.

Coach Jenk spent 42 years at the head of the Beckman program. He led the team to five state championships and 1,088 wins.

He suffered a stroke on Christmas Day in 2016 and underwent surgery for a brain tumor soon after. Jenk's health problems kept him away from his primary duties as head coach last season as longtime assistant Fred Martin assumed that role.

With Jenk present in the press box, the Blazers captured another state title in July and pointed to the press box acknowledging their head coach after the trophy presentation.
