CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) -

A Cedar Rapids woman accused of breaking the leg of a baby in her care has been charged with child endangerment causing serious injury.

21-year-old Victoria Stastny was operating a child day care when the 1-year-old boy was injured on July 18. The boy's mother reported that he was screaming when she picked him up from the day care. She took him to a hospital, where doctors found a spiral fracture in his left femur.

According to the criminal complaint a doctor says a significant amount of force would be required to cause that injury.

Police say Stastny admitted becoming "frustrated with the infant and grabbed him by an arm and a leg and tossed him from one couch to another."

If convicted, Stastny faces up to 10 years in prison. A phone number for her could not be found Saturday. Court records indicate she is representing herself in the case.
