NEW HAMPTON (KWWL) -

The New Hampton Chickasaws scored early and very late to advance to the Quarterfinal Round of the IAHSAA Football Playoffs with a 21-14 win over Dike-New Hartford in a game played in snowy conditions in New Hampton.  Brayden Fisher scored 2 first half touchdowns as the Chickasaws built a 14-0 lead.  As the clock ticked down on the first half, Wolverines QB Drew Sonnenberg connected with Cade Fuller on a 52-yard TD pass with :05 left in the 2nd quarter.  After a scoreless 3rd quarter, the Wolverines tied the game at 14 as it looked like the game would go to OT.  However, Fisher returned the ensuing kickoff to the D-NH 30 yard line.  A few plays later, NH QB Keagan John found Josh Fenske in the end zone for a 15 yard TD pass with 1:09 left in the game.  D-NH advanced into Chickasaw territory before a defensive sack ended the game.  New Hampton will host Waukon next Friday as the 2A playoffs continue.
