Cascade remains unbeaten, rolls over West Liberty 49-21

A back and forth battle in the first half turned into a second half blowout in Cascade Friday night.

The unbeaten and second ranked Cougars looking to remain perfect against the West Liberty Comets.

The Cougars moved the ball early and often.

Senior Austin Lieurance capped an impressive opening drive with a 23 yard score to give Cascade a 7-0 lead.

But West Liberty answered, first with a key fourth down completion, caught after a Cascade defender tipped the ball.  The very next play, Joe Kelly and their big offensive line pushed the pile into the endzone to tie it up at seven.

Later, Lieurance got loose again, this time a 30-yard scamper setting up another touchdown.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Comets fumble, Cascade recovers, and Lieurance scored on the very next play from 36 yards out.  Cascade goes up 21-7.

The Comets got tricky, though, going to the reverse.  Tanner Iske got the corner and then just out ran everyone for a 53-yard score.

That brought the Comets within seven, but Lieurance got loose again for a 38-yard touchdown to put Cascade up 28-14.

That would be more than enough, as the Cougars would go on to add three touchdowns in the second half, and win 49-21.

They'll now host LaPorte City Union in a rematch of last week's game.  The Cougars won that game 28-21.
