National Philanthropy Day luncheon planned for November 9

The Association of Fundraising Professionals - Northeast Iowa chapter is hosting the 7th annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 9 in Cedar Falls.

The chapter holds the event to recognize and honor the work done by those making a difference in the Cedar Valley community.  THE AFP-NEIA has been serving the Waterloo/Cedar Falls metro area and surrounding counties of Northeast Iowa since 2010.

One winner in each “Gift of the Heart” category will have the opportunity to donate $250 to their favorite charity.  This is possible thanks to the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa. Gifts of the Heart categories include Philanthropy, Legacy, Governance, Community Partnerships and Youth.

2017 honorees are Bill Bradford, Judy Finkelstein, Karol Rae Hoth, Cathy Young, Jean Seeland, Don Sullivan, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa Board of Directors, Friends of the Family Board of Directors, House of Hope Board of Directors, Allen College Engagement & The Salvation Army Partnership, John Deere & Cedar Valley Preschool and Child Care Center, Sartori Festival of Trees, Hansen Elementary 4th grade class, Asher, Siri, Shai and KJ Meyer and Kiana Mitchell.

KWWL's Abby Turpin is passionate about community involvement and has been asked to give this year's keynote address.  The event will be emceed by Executive Director of Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, Steve Carignan.

The luncheon is on November 9, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn at 7213 Nordic Drive in Cedar Falls.
