Hubbell criticizes Reynolds on stopgap proposal

Posted: Updated:

Fred Hubbell, Democratic candidate for Iowa Governor, Monday accused Governor Kim Reynolds of turning her back on Iowans.\

Hubbell's campaign released the following statement:

Following the announcement by Governor Kim Reynolds to withdraw Iowa's "stopgap" proposal which will cause a 57% increase in individual insurance premiums for 72,000 Iowans, and an estimated 20,000 Iowans to lose insurance, Fred Hubbell, Democratic candidate for governor, released the following statement.

Hubbell said, "Governor Reynolds has once again turned her back on Iowans, letting Washington politicians sabotage Iowa's health insurance market to score cheap political points while Iowans suffer."

"From disastrous Medicaid privatization to the defunding of Planned Parenthood, Reynolds has shown time and again she does not serve the hardworking people of our state, who need and deserve good quality, affordable healthcare.

As governor, I will put Iowans first again, working to expand health care and end the needless suffering that is being caused by Reynolds and her purely political agenda."
