GILBERTVILLE (KWWL) -

The top five back and forth slugfest didn't quite materialize. Top ranked Don Bosco took control early and rolled to a 78-20 win over number four Tripoli to capture a district title.

Tripoli looked ready to play early on, scoring on a quick drive capped by a Marquise Paino two-yard touchdown run for an early 8-0 lead. Don Bosco, however, responded on just two offensive plays as quarterback Wyatt Sawvel raced 63 yards to tie the game at 8-8. That started a run of 64 unanswered points in the runaway victory.

For Sawvel, it was a career night. The Don Bosco senior passed for 250 yards and 5 touchdowns. On the ground he added 264 yards and 4 scores.

"We knew they could score," said the senior quarterback, "They have a pretty good offense, and they came out and punched right away, and we knew we had to score right back and let them know we're here to play."

"I think there was a lot of hype coming in to this game and I think they just wanted to come out and say it's time, it's playoff time," added head coach Colby Yoder, "and we're going to try and make a run, so I think that's what they wanted to do."
