Fall Festival being held Saturday for Jesup boy fighting rare disease

Posted: Updated:

The Cedar Valley community is invited to attend the first Fall Family Festival in Jesup to help raise money for Reed Havlik.  Reed is battling a rare disease called Vanishing White Matter, a rare neurological condition that destroys myelin, the brain’s white matter.  Reed is one of about 170 cases of Vanishing White Matter Disease in the entire world.

For the festival, kids (and adults!) are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes.  Activities will include pumpkin painting, face painting, a bounce house, professional photos, bobbing for apples and lawn games.  Also, baked goods and purses will be for sale, and a silent auction will be held.  All proceeds go towards Reed's fight against VWM.

The festival is Saturday, October 21, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Jesup Park Pavillion.

Reed actually paid a visit to our KWWL noon show this week.  See the interview here.  Visit the festival event Facebook page here.
