Bike stolen from local 12-year-old entrepreneur

On any given day, you can find 12-year-old Elijah Webber tinkering away on a bicycle. Everyone in his Waterloo neighborhood knows it.

"I think every kid in the neighborhood has brought their bike to him at least once," said Elijah's dad, Lance Webber.

Earlier this year, Elijah decided to make a business out of his passion. Even building and putting up a sign for The Sprocket Bike Repair Shop in his front yard.

"My uncle gave me an old bike and it needed to be fixed up. I fixed it up and I really liked fixing it and so I decided I wanted to start fixing more bikes," said Elijah.

Over the years, it has become the father-son hobby which has distracted them from some of life's hard times.

"We have had a lot of health issues in our family over the last few years. My wife has had issues and his grandma passed away from Leukemia over the summer. While she was going through treatments and my wife was going through treatments for things, building bikes together has been something we have worked on a lot," said Lance.

But the bike they built together during that time, a Blue Schwinn Collegiate with 49cc two-stroke engine, was stolen from the garage a few weeks ago.

"It was really special to him. It has a lot of personal value to him. It is something that is meaningful and he has been sad that it is gone," said Lance.

The father and son are hoping someone has seen the blue motorized bike with a  Doctor Who TARDIS sticker, which looks like a phone booth and can help return the bike.

They also want to thank the community whom shared the Facebook post about the missing bike and contacted them with possible sightings of the bike.
