Iowa college student named U.S. Paralympic Female Field Athlete of the Year

University of Northern Iowa freshman, Jessica Heims, was named the Female High School Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Paralympics this week.

She shares the honor with Jaleen Roberts.

Heims also earned All-American honors from the U.S. Paralympics, which marks her fourth appearance.

She competed at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.

A total of 71 athletes were named to the 2017 U.S. Paralympics Track & Field High School All-American list.

The list honors the top high school track and field athletes who have a Paralympic-eligible impairment, based on their performances in the 2017 season.
