Posted: Updated:

Authorities are investigating an incident at an eastern Iowa high school, after someone may have brought a gun to school grounds.

It happened at West Delaware High School.

The Manchester Police Department confirming they responded to a complaint on Sept. 29, after a juvenile allegedly had a firearm in the parking lot.

About two weeks later on Oct. 11th, the West Delaware County Community School District board held a special meeting. During the closed hearing, they decided two West Delaware students would face disciplinary actions.

According to minutes from the meeting, one of them was suspended for 10 school days, starting from Sept. 29, the date of the alleged incident.

The other student, has been expelled for the rest of the school year.

KWWL is trying to figure out if these two cases are related. We asked Police Chief James Hauschild what led to the other student being disciplined. He declined to explain, saying its a school district matter.

In search for more, we also contacted Kristen Rickey, district superintendent. She declined to comment, citing it's against policy.

We also reached out to John Bernau, Delaware County Attorney. He says since the incident involves juveniles, and no forcible felony, there's not much he can discuss.

The student who was suspended is likely back in class. His suspension was over on Monday, Oct, 16.

According to minutes from the meeting, he had to complete a  sensitivity training and meet with a counselor before going back.
