63-year-old Michael Olson died Tuesday afternoon, more than two weeks after he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.

His family is calling for justice as police continue to search for the driver they say ran from the scene.

Cedar Rapids police do have a suspect in mind.

"No one expects someone to pass but when it's like this you're looking for justice and answers," says Michelle Freeman, Olson's niece.

The incident happened near the intersection of C Street and 20th Avenue SW.

Police say the woman who was driving is described to be in her early twenties with long black hair.

The car she left behind turned out to be stolen.

Olson's daughter Cara Anderson messaged with us this morning, she says she is hoping for the maximum sentence for the person who did this.

"I hope that everyday is the hell that we just spent watching our loved one die with nothing we could do to help him," she wrote.

Olson's family is remembering his love of the outdoors and of them.

"He was a grandpa, and a husband, and a dad and I just hope that that person would put themselves in the families shoes," says Freeman.

They are asking for love and prayers at this time.
"The whole family is devastated they can't  even speak that's how devastated they are," Freeman told us.

If the driver does not come forward the family is confident she will be found.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help the family with expenses, Olson's daughter tells us he did not have health insurance.
