Family, friends sign walls of veteran Taylor Morris' new smart home

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Afghanistan War Veteran Taylor Morris and his wife, Danielle are one step closer to starting their lives in a new smart home.

Today, family, friends and veterans were invited to write inspirational messages on the wall of the adapted home in Cedar Falls. Morris was leading a team in Afghanistan when an IED detonated beneath him. In the blast, he lost all four limbs. This home will help him do simple everyday tasks like climbing stairs, reaching shelves and getting in and out of the bathroom.

"It's awesome to have everybody out here and see, so everybody can see all the different parties that are involved in a project like this," said Morris. "You know Gary Sinise's entire network is nationwide and all the local contractors that are out here everyday."

This home was made possible by the Gary Sinise Foundation. The program builds smart homes for wounded veterans and first responders. For more information, please visit GarySiniseFoundation.org
