DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Dubuque has received an award for the Upper Bee Branch Creek Restoration Project.

The Iowa Floodplain and Stormwater Management Association has named it the 2017 Project of the Year.

The project involved removing the buried storm sewer, and replacing it with a 2,300-foot long creek and green space. It also included the construction of two bridges, a trail, parking lot, amphitheater, play area with slides, and scenic overlooks.

The award recognizes people and projects that represent the best in the floodplain and stormwater management industry.
