Diesel-tainted gas delivered to three northeastern Iowa gas stations

DECORAH (KWWL) -

The Minnesota Department of Commerce says three northeastern Iowa gas stations are among the 44 to receive a tainted supply of gas Friday.

According to a press release, an operational malfunction added small amounts of diesel fuel into 87 octane gasoline.

The Kwik Trip stores in Cresco and Decorah, and the Farmer's Co-op in Fredericksburg were the three Iowa stations that received the tainted gas.

A full list of the 44 stations can be found here: http://mn.gov/commerce-stat/pdfs/tainted-diesel-list.pdf.

The Commerce's Department of Weights and Measures Division is working to recover and replace the tainted gas.

They're also sending out inspectors to make sure all the problems are corrected.

They say it's unlikely the small amounts of diesel will cause severe or long-term vehicle damage.  But if you bought gas since Friday at one of the stations listed and you're experiencing poor performance like knocking or pinging, you can file a complaint here https://mn.gov/commerce/consumers/file-a-complaint/wm/, or call 651-539-1555.
