Former Luther football player, once paralyzed, now working to walk down aisle at wedding

Posted: Updated:

It was seven years ago today when then Luther College football player Chris Norton broke his neck while covering a kickoff.

At the time, doctors gave Norton a three percent chance of ever having feeling or movement below the neck.

But Norton has been proving everyone wrong since then, first walking across the stage at his graduation.

Now he has his sights set on perhaps the most important seven yards he'll ever walk in his life.

According to a report from the Des Moines Register, Norton is planning to walk arm-in-arm with his fiancee down the aisle when the pair gets married in April.

It's another in a long line of big accomplishments for the former player, who now lives in Florida.

In addition to continuing his rehab, he also runs the SCI CAN Foundation, which helps people with spinal cord injuries.  He also gives speeches all over the country.

Norton's story is also being made into a movie.  A non-profit documentary film company plans to release the trailer of his life today.
