Rick Coleman; "Good Evening I am Ricki Coleman here with the head football coach of the Northern Iowa Panthers Mark Farley. The Panthers are coming off the heartbreaking loss at the the UNI-Dome to Western Illinois--Coach I loved your comments after this game--you said it is alright to feel pain and hurt you want your players to hurt but you have to get over it make the corrections and move on"

Mark Farley: "Yeah that's part of the game--go right back the next week is tough if not tougher. We have to reconvene and reorganize and get back to work."

Rick: "And the competition is obviously tough in this conference Western Illinois coming in a very tough team and now you go on the road to face the number five team in the country South Dakota State which are going to do you any favors."

Mark: "No...every week we are going to play a very tough team and its going down to the end and is going to make some plays going down the stretch so you can not put yourself where you are beating yourself..you have to be on your game."

Rick: "You have some tough competition as I said coming up with South Dakota State...Taryn Christianson their QB..the MVP of the MVFC last year can run and throw the ball--ran for a 90 yard touchdown this season--he has some good targets in tighend Dallas Goerdt and receiver Jake Wieneke--how do you slow down this attack?

Mark: Well it will be difficult because they have three of the Payton Award Candidates o their offense alone. So when you see those kind of talent--tighend, receiver and quarterback, all dangerous and can spread the field so it will be a team defense that will have to come together to stop them."

Rick: "The Panther offense led by Eli Dunne has shown it can move the ball and make plays--what are some opportunities with this South Dakota State defense?

Mark: Well that is the thing we have to stay away from the turnovers--we do well throwing the football right now we have to rush it better we have to stay out of turnovers and penalties.

Rick: And like you said you have a murder's row schedule so you can't get down on one defeat or too high on a victory. What is the mentality going into this week?

Mark: Everything is like it is every week that's how we approach things from two-a-day camp until the end of the season--it is not who you play it is how you play...and the game plan trying to get the right personnel on the field whether it be by injury or getting a better player trying to figure who we can play to their strength..and style of offense or defense we play."

Rick: And the defense held up well for the most part in that game against Western Illinois what are some things you'd like to see differently this week?

Mark: Well that last drive is the only thing that disappointed me last week --I mean we played good defense most the game but we give up a big pass play so we have to take that off the board to have a chance.

Rick: Good luck this week Coach Mark Farley and the Panthers going up to Brookings. South Dakota..good Luck Coach

Mark: Thank You
