IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Comedian Ralphie May died Friday at the age of 45. A spokeswoman of the comedian said May died of cardiac arrest.

May was scheduled to be in Iowa City next month on November 25, for a show at the First Avenue Club. The owner of the club, Ned Mendenhall, posted about the comedians death on its website. According to Mendenhall, May had become somewhat of a regular there.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Ralphie May. Over the past several years we have been blessed to have him grace our stage many times. I also have been lucky to have been a guest of Ralphie at many of his shows in Vegas. He will be greatly missed," he wrote.

Mendenhall said they'll soon begin issuing refunds to people that had previously bought tickets.

"RIP Ralphie. You were a great comedian, great man and a friend. Heaven gained a heck of a man. I miss you buddy.... Ned," he concluded.
