NORMAN, Okla. (KWWL) -

Iowa State shocked the nation and derailed the national title hopes of Oklahoma in the process. The Cyclones erased a 14 point first half deficit to stun third ranked Oklahoma 38-31, and they did it without their starting quarterback.

Back-up Kyle Kempt was brilliant, throwing for 343 yards and 3 touchdowns in his first career start. Kempt got the call after Jacob Park didn't make the trip due to what Matt Campbell called "personal health issues." Kempt's 25 yard strike to Allen Lazard in the final three minutes made the difference as the Cyclone defense sealed the game with a fourth down stop near midfield.

The win marked the first top five road victory for Iowa State in program history.
