West Delaware leads Dubuque Wahlert 12-0 before play halted

Posted: Updated:

BOTH TEAMS ARE FIRED UP AND READY TO GO WITH THE EARLY START TIME TO TRY AND BEAT THE RAIN.

IN THE FIRST QUARTER, ON A 4TH AND 2 FROM THE EAGLES 40, WEST DELAWARE RUNNING BACK CALEB KEHRLI STARTS UP THE MIDDLE BUT BREAKS IT TO THE OUTSIDE AND GETS DOWN TO THE 19 FOR A HAWKS FIRST DOWN.

3 PLAYS LATER, ON A 3RD AND 11 FROM THE 20, QUARTERBACK NICK CASEY FINDS TYLER KELLEY AT THE BACK OF THE ENDZONE FOR THE NICE SLIDING CATCH TO PUT WEST DELAWARE UP 6-0 AFTER A BLOCKED P.A.T.

STILL IN THE FIRST QUARTER, NICK CASEY IS BACK TO PASS AND FINDS KABRYN COOK BEHIND THE DEFENSE, ALTHOUGH IT APPEARS HE NEVER HAS FULL CONTROL, THE CALL THE CATCH GOOD DOWN TO THE 3 YARD LINE.

ON THE NEXT PLAY, CALEB KEHRLI INITIALLY GETS STOPPED, BUT SPINS HIS WAY INTO THE ENDZONE TO PUT THE HAWKS UP 12-0 AFTER A FAILED 2 POINT CONVERSION.

FOR THE REST OF THE HALF IT WAS DOMINATED BY BOTH DEFENSES AS THE RAIN DIDN'T HELP. EAGLES RUNNING BACK KOLTON BARTOW GETS STUFFED BY GRANT MORRIS FOR THE BIG LOSS.

WAHLERT RETURNS THE FAVOR AS NICK CASEY TRYS TO FIND TYLER KELLEY, BUT HE TAKES A SHOT FROM WILLIAM HUTCHINSON TO BREAK UP THE PASS.

WEST DELAWARE LEAD 12-0 WHEN THIS GAME WAS HALTED FOR THE NIGHT---TO BE COMPLETED SATURDAY.
