Hawks look to bounce back against Fighting Illini

Posted: Updated:

The Hawkeyes have opened the Big Ten season with losses to fourth ranked Penn State and last week on the road at Michigan State.

After averaging 33 points a game and more than 400 yards a game in three non-conference victories... The Hawks are scoring just 15 points while producing just 250 yards of total offense a game in the two losses.

The recent struggles can be attributed to injuries on the Hawkeye offensive line.

Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz said at his weekly press conference, "We're down -- obviously Ike is not coming back this year, so that's a loss. Cole Croston is gone. Boone is not at 100 percent or he'd be playing every snap, and we lost James for a little bit, too. We're going through a little bit of a shuffle, if you will. But we'll keep pushing. We've got enough there and we've got the right guys and all that type of thing, so it's just a matter of pushing forward, and we're open to anything right now to help the team in any phase. We're looking at every possibility."

Hawks and Illini meet Saturday morning at 11 at Kinnick Stadium.
