Iowa woman killed in Las Vegas attack

Posted: Updated:

Sutherland, IA (KTIV) - Late Tuesday night, family members of Carly Kreibaum confirmed that she was killed in the attack, at a country music festival, in Las Vegas, Sunday night.

That information was given to KTIV by Kreibaum's sister-in-law Sarah Rohwer.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Kreibaum, and two friends, were among the 22,000 fans in the crowd for the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire from the Mandalay Bay hotel.

The news is just beginning to sink in for family, and friends, back home in Sutherland.

Bonnie Wallinga owns "The Menagerie", a flower shop, in downtown Sutherland.

She says her bond with Kreibaum started around the time Kreibaum painted the flowers on the window of her business.

That was during the time Kreibaum was in college studying art.

When talking with her Tuesday, she said she can't think of anyone who doesn't like Kreibaum.

She also said that Kreibaum doesn't have an angry bone in her body.

Wallinga described Kreibaum as the type of person to get together in a group of people and strike up a conversation.

And she says that's what made her, and her husband Chris, a great couple, since he is the same way.

Chris Kreibaum traveled to Las Vegas Tuesday to help in the search.

Wallinga says Kreibaum is a mother of two.

She says she worked at Wal-Mart store, in Spencer, for the last few years.
