Cedar Rapids Xavier at Independence

In Class 3A District 3, 3rd ranked and unbeaten Xavier paying a visit to Independence. After losing its first 2 games of the season, Independence has turned things around winning 3 of the last 4.

The Mustang defense would come up with the first big play. On third down, Noah Gall chases down Quinn Schulte for the sack. That would force a Xavier punt.

But the Saints come right back. Schulte passing to Gabe Lux. He breaks a couple of tackles, then dives for the pylon. He’s in for the touchdown. 7-0 Xavier.

They would get the ball right back. Independence fumbling on the lateral pass, Beau Van Berken jumps on it for Xavier.

The Saints make them pay. Schulte passing deep, Jack Scott jumps up and brings it down on the 1 yard line. On the very next play, it’s Schulte on the 1 yard keeper for the score.

The Saints keep rolling. This time they keep it on the ground. Jax Junge rumbling up the middle and all the way to the end zone. A 19 yard TD puts Xavier up 21-0.

Xavier finishes the half with a 39 yard field goal by Benjamin Conrad to make it 24-0.

The Saints stay unbeaten…they win 37-0.
