Flexsteel to break ground on new Dubuque facility Monday

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Flexsteel will break ground on their new manufacturing facility in Dubuque on Monday.

The company previously announced they would close their Jackson Street facility, and potentially be leaving Dubuque.

But a deal between the company, the city of Dubuque, the county and more kept the company in Dubuque, where they'll build a $25 million facility.

That deal was announced in May.

The facility will be on 22 acres of land in Dubuque Industrial Center South, and will keep more than 200 jobs in the city.

“Flexsteel is pleased to continue manufacturing in Dubuque, a progressive community where our strong workforce delivers great results to our customers every day,” said Flexsteel President and CEO, Karel Czanderna, in a press release. “We look forward to continued success at our new facility and will look back with fondness to Jackson Street, which we called home for over 80 years.”

The company will donate nearly $2.7 million and about 40 acres of land to Dubuque Initiatives.

The groundbreaking will be held at 10 a.m.
