Cedar Rapids fire captain & chaplain helping with Hurricane Harvey relief

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

A Cedar Rapids fire captain and public safety chaplain are headed south to help with hurricane relief. 

The two are a part of the Midwest 1 Disaster Medical Assistance Team or DMAT. 

They are being sent to Atlanta to get orders and then will be deployed to either Puerto Rico or the United States Virgin Islands. 

DMAT is made up of paramedics, pharmacists, physicians and nurses.

The team will set up treatment clinics that are mobile as well as provide treatment in disaster areas.
