UPDATE: Two robbery suspects arrested at North Liberty home during shooting

UPDATE: Iowa City police have released details on the initial robbery that led to the investigation at David Lee Court in North Liberty, including making two arrests.

Officers say they were dispatched to the area of Center Street and Davenport Street in Iowa City around 12:34 a.m. this morning after a man reported being robbed by people he knew.

Police say the victim told them he was struck by one of the suspects with a pistol, and a single gunshot was later fired but did not hit him. The suspects reportedly left the scene in a white vehicle, while the victim told police he had minor injuries from the ordeal.

The investigation then led officers from both Iowa City and North Liberty to a home on David Lee Court, where the suspects were believed to be. Police say two juvenile suspects were taken into custody there on first-degree robbery charges.

UPDATE: Police in North Liberty say there is no threat to the public after gunshots ring out and a man is found dead during a robbery investigation.

Officers say there speaking with residents outside of a home on David Lee Court in North Liberty around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday when they heard gunshots inside. After clearing the home, police found a dead man inside the house. Officers say witnesses believed the gunshot wound was self-inflicted, but the investigation is continuing.

A man is dead after North Liberty Police were called to home related to a robbery in Iowa City.

Police were called to the home of David Lee Court around 2:19 a.m.

Hours later, officers heard gunshots from inside. They requested assistance from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

When officers went inside, they found one man dead. They're now investigating the death. 

They say there is no current public safety threat.
