CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Police say a 14-year-old boy had his moped stolen from the Kingston Stadium parking lot in Cedar Rapids.

According to a Facebook post by the boy's mother, it happened during a freshman football game on Thursday night.

She tells us her son's helmet, gloves and credit card were taken along with the moped.

The family filed a police report on Thursday.

Saturday evening police noticed a red moped with no license plates in the 1700 block of 15th  Avenue SW.

Officers say the moped took off from them and went off-road near Jefferson High School.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday someone tried to use the stolen credit card to get gas at Casey's General Store in the 1300 block of Blairs Ferry Road NE.

The credit card was flagged by the credit card company which kept it from being used, we are told it was shut off on Thursday night as the police report was filed.

A red moped was also spotted on surveillance video at the gas station.

Police are continuing to look for the suspect and the moped.

We are told there were 57 vehicle thefts in the city between August 1st and September 24th.

Police say most of them happened when the keys were left inside or the vehicles were left unlocked.
