UPDATE: Fire crews responded to the 2600 block of Iowa Street Saturday night for a garage fire.

Cedar Falls police say nobody was hurt.

According to Police Chief Jeff Olson, the fire started in an unattached garage next to the home. The garage is a total loss.

There were also two vehicles sitting outside of the garage in the driveway, which were also damaged by the fire.

Due to the heavy fire damage, police say it will be difficult to determine the exact cause.

Witnesses tell KWWL there was a lot of thick smoke that could be seen blocks away from the fire.

Update: A witness tells KWWL, firefighters were able to contain the garage fire.

Police officers were concerned nearby power poles might catch fire, and lines could fall on several people standing by to watch the fire.
