Three die when car crashes into creek in Iowa County

Three teens have died and one person has been seriously injured in a crash in eastern Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol says 18-year-old Chad Owens, 19-year-old Michael Galyon and 19-year-old Kaitlyn Cook died when a car they were inside overturned into a creek along 240th Street near G Avenue in Iowa County on Friday. A fourth person, 21-year-old Anna Townsend of South English, was airlifted to a hospital from the scene. Her condition is unknown at this time. 

Officers say Owens, who is from North English, was driving. Galyon is from Williamsburg, while Cook is from Deep River.

Investigators say the crash happened sometime between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and early Friday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Iowa County Sheriff's Office, Iowa County Rescue, Iowa County Ambulance, Ladora Fire Department and Millersburg Fire Department at the scene.
