CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Helping others through hands-on learning....

Some UNI students built tiny houses for homeless people in Iowa.

This is a project many different majors and students at UNI were involved in.

One of the homes was actually built with all recyclable materials.

The best part about this college project is that all thee tiny homes are going to go to a nonprofit in Des Moines called Joppa.

They will eventually becomes homes for homeless people in Iowa.

Yesterday one of the tiny homes was taken to Des Moines. The other two homes will be taken there today.

The UNI professor in charge of this project says more tiny homes will be built in the the future.

One of the homes has solar panels on it. Part of it was also built with the old gym floor from a school in Janesville.
