WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Update: Waterloo Police arrested Derrick Johnson for a crash that killed a baby last month.

Johnson, 36 years old, has been charged with homicide by vehicle/operating under the influence.

Police say he had a blood-alcohol level of .069 and tested positive for cocaine and marijuana.

In August, a pickup collided with a van at Sycamore and First.

Liam Mwanje died after the crash. The baby was not in a child safety seat in the van.

Johnson was driving the pickup.

Police say they have surveillance video and eye-witness accounts that Johnson was speeding when he blew the stop sign on Sycamore.

Court documents show that during interviews with investigators,  Johnson admitted to both running the stop sign and drinking and driving.
