Denver asking the public for help naming new, historic building

Posted: Updated:

The Denver School District's superintendent says a new building in town that is currently under construction is one of the biggest projects in the history of this community.

The new building is going to have two gyms, a 500-seat auditorium, a press box overlooking the track and football field, a walking track, and a weight room.

This building is a big deal for the school and community, which doesn't have enough room for sporting and fine arts events.

So here's where you come in.

The school district is asking the public for help coming up with a name for the building.

The superintendent says within 24 hours of starting this "Name the New Denver School Building" contest, they had over 60 submissions.

He says the names, "keep pouring in."

They've had some pretty interesting and some pretty creative names so far. The superintendent says they aren't revealing any of those names just yet.

People have until September 27th to submit a new name idea for this building.

The new building is expected to be open by thanksgiving.
