A Ride and Drive event has been planned for Saturday, October 7 to benefit Reed Havlik, who is battling a disease called Vanishing White Matter Disease.

Organized my Woody's F.T.K., Inc., the day will begin at Buzz's Bar in Waterloo, with registration beginning at 10 a.m.  The ride will then take off at 11 a.m., with stops in Raymond, Tripoli, Fairbank and Hazelton, before ending at Bucketz in Jesup.

The cost per ride is $15.  All of the proceeds will go to aid in research for Reed, with hopes of finding a cure for the disease.

Reed is one of about 170 cases of Vanishing White Matter Disease in the entire world.  It's a rare neurological condition that destroys myelin, the brain’s white matter.  Learn more about the disease here

Reed also has a Facebook page where you can follow all of the events happening to support this strong little boy.  Visit that Facebook page here, and the Ride and Drive event Facebook page here.
