UPDATE: Honor flight cancelled today due to weather

UPDATE: The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight scheduled for today has been cancelled due to weather.

A date to reschedule hasn't been announced yet. 


Today around 89 veterans are headed to Washington D.C. 

The eastern Iowa Honor Flight is taking veterans and their guardians to the nation's capitol, where they will be visiting the memorials dedicated to their services and sacrifice. 

According to the EIHF, while there, the veterans will visit the WWII, Korean, and Vietnam memorials. They will also visit Arlington National Cemetery.

 On this flight, they will also lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

On this flight there will be 29 Korean War Veterans, 59 Vietnam Era Veterans, and 1 WWII Veteran. 

The estimated return time to Cedar Rapids (barring any delays) is 10:15 PM. Anyone is welcome to come visit the veterans when they return home.  Parking is free.
