WATERLOO (KWWL) -

UPDATE: Waterloo Police say a man is facing 1st Degree Murder charges, tied to the death of a 4-year-old boy in July.

On July 8, police were called to a home for a report of a child drowning in a bathtub; Jaheem Harris, the 4-year-old, later died at the hospital.

Autopsy results show Harris didn't drown.  Instead, his death was ruled a homicide due to blunt force trauma. Walter Cordell Williams was taking care of Harris at the time of his death.

On September 14, Williams was charged with 1st Degree Murder in Jaheem Harris's death. Williams has been in the Black Hawk County Jail since Harris died, on a violation of a no contact order with the victim's mother.  He's being held on a $1.5 million bond.

Parents in the neighborhood say they have been keeping their children close since the incident.

"Anything can happen to your kids these days. The people that you think won't hurt your kids are the people that are hurting your kids," said one mother.
