Support for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Black Hawk County continues October 7 with the Fly-In & Drive-In for Life event.  This year's theme is Breakfast in the Hangar.

For $10 per adult and $5 for children, guests can enjoy flapjacks and entertainment from 8 a.m. until noon at Livingston Aviation at the Waterloo Airport.  Pilots in command are free.

Joel Harris hosts the event.  He said he first became interested in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life events when his mother-in-law had cancer.  After a two-year fight, the disease took her life.

"This evil is no respecter of economic position, it cares nothing about how nice a person you are, or whether you live clean or not.  It has affected thousands of people and most of us know people that have it, have died from it, or that will be afflicted with it in the future," Harris said.  "Any little bit I can do to eliminate it is worth it."

Sponsors of this year's event are ServiceMaster by Harris, Newton Aircraft Leasing, American Color Imaging, Livingston Aviation and First Security State Bank.

"We hope to have not only people fly their planes in, but also hope to have people bring their vintage cars out to the airport, or any car for that matter," Harris said.
