WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War was treated to a surprise as he returned home from the nation's capital on the Sullivan Hartogh Davis Cedar Valley Honor Flight this week.

Wayne Welzien is also the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 108, which is based in Dike-New Hartford. When Welzien returned to the Waterloo Regional Airport from the day in Washington, D.C. yesterday, he was greeted by Scouts from his troop and a welcoming sign.

Welzien has been involved in the Boy Scouts program since his son Jeff was a Scout. Jeff was also on the flight with Wayne on Tuesday.

The Scouts also met with other veterans returning home to eastern Iowa on the Honor Flight.
