A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held this week for the newly completed Ames, Iowa, water-treatment plant.

The ceremony and open house will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday. Mayor Ann Campbell, current and former City Council members, state agency representatives and other elected officials will participate in the ribbon cutting. Following the ceremony, tours of the facility will be provided, exhibits and displays will showcase the water treatment process, and an art exhibit will be on display.

The new $70 million plant, which can treat 15 million gallons of wastewater per day, replaces a more than 90-year-old facility. The location of the new plant, on property formerly owned by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, allows for the reuse of existing infrastructure and provides space for future expansion.
