Third man arrested in connection with Waterloo ATM burglaries

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Waterloo Police Captain Dave Mohlis says a third person has been arrested after a string of break-ins apparently geared towards stealing ATMs earlier this year.

21-year-old Brian Bennett is currently in the Black Hawk County Jail. He was arrested last Thursday, according to Captain Mohlis.

Online court documents show Bennett is facing burglary and theft charges stemming from crash-and-grab robberies in Waterloo from May 21 through May 27.

John Fitzgerald Bennett and Cody Joe Laughlin were also previously arrested in connection with the spree of robberies and burglaries.

Brian Bennett was also arrested in March for planning to rob the Check Into Cash business on University Avenue in Waterloo. That robbery was foiled, but Bennett and three others admitted to planning an armed robbery.

Bennett is due back in court next Monday. He's in custody on a $117,000 bond.
