A Dubuque man faces attempted murder charges, among others, after police say he allegedly shot another man Wednesday night.

Court records show 32-year-old Jevonne Coleman was arrested Wednesday night after police say he shot and hit 24-year-old Titus Jarmon.

According to the criminal complaint, the two had been in some sort of altercation on Sunday. The two crossed path again Wednesday night, police said, at the intersection of West 16th and Locust Streets.

They say another man punched Jarmon, who then began to run. Police say that's when Jarmon started running, and Coleman pulled out a gun and shot him twice, hitting him in the left buttock and right thigh.

Jarmon continued to run, records show, until he saw an ambulance and flagged it down.

Police say they then found Coleman laying in a wooded area nearby, and arrested him.

According to the criminal complaint, Coleman appeared drunk, and an initial breath test showed a blood alcohol level of .315.

Police found six spent .45 casings in the area, as well as a blood trail following the same path Jarmon fled.

Police say they used video from cameras in the area to corroborate Jarmon's story, as well as identify Coleman.

He faces charges of attempted murder, going armed with intent, felon in possession of a firearm, interference with official acts and public intoxication.

Coleman is scheduled to appear in video court Thursday morning.
