Authorities are searching for a man they say did not return from work release.

Korey S. McGhee, 29, of Dubuque, was convicted of robbery and burglary charges and failed to return to the correctional facility in Dubuque.

For Shirley Schroeder, it's unnerving.

She says, back in 2008, McGhee robbed and assaulted her fiance in the downtown area. "Bill was standing back there by one of those columns, and he came back behind Bill, and made him drop to his knees, and then he had a knife about that long in the back...and Bill could feel the tip," said Schroeder. "He wanted to harm him. He wanted to hurt him."

That year,  McGhee was convicted of multiple crimes, including second-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, also eight counts of forgery. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but served nine.

In June of this year, he was admitted to the residential work release facility on Elm Street.

"I think it's wrong, they should've kept him in there,"Schroeder said. "You know that old saying -- you do the crime you do the time."

Schroeder says they just want their peace of mind again.

"That's all I hope, to pray they find him, cause he could hurt somebody else."

McGhee is described as 5'10 tall, and weighs 359 pounds. Anyone with information about where he is should contact local police.
