UPDATE: Waterloo Police say a child has died after being critically injured in a rollover crash.

A family friend says a eight-month-old baby was killed in the crash and several children were also injured. At this point we don't know how the other children are doing.

Police say nine other people have been injured in the crash. Police say the minivan collided at an intersection with a pickup truck occupied by only its driver.

At least one child is in critical condition after a rollover crash at the intersection of Sycamore and First Streets in Waterloo.

A pickup truck and a minivan collided Wednesday evening, sending all of the children involved in the accident to the hospital.  Police say two adults and at least four children were in the van. The children's injuries range from serious to non-life threatening.

A witness says she saw the pickup run a stop sign on Sycamore Street and hit the van.  A man matching the pickup driver's description was later seen being arrested by police.

Waterloo Police have not released the names or ages of the victims.  The area was closed for several hours while investigators documented the scene.

The area is part of the Highway 63 construction, which closed Mullan Avenue and made First Street a two-way street.  Because of the construction, the traffic light at the First and Sycamore intersection is not in use. Instead of a light, there is a large stop sign for drivers on Sycamore.
