Carpetland USA pushes to keep recycling site tidy

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A Waterloo recycling site, that has been deemed "disgusting" by some, is cleaning up it's act. The recycling site near Flammang Drive in Waterloo, by the Crossroads Mall, is clean today and an area businesses is hoping it stays that way

There are two main problems that have been happening at the recycling site. The city of Waterloo says trash has been over flowing out of the bins and people have been dropping off items that are not recyclable.

The bins are located behind Carpetland USA and the manager there is hopeful the site will stay clean.

"Carpetland USA provides a location for the recycling containers, unfortunately it's the overflow of these containers that put these locations in jeopardy throughout the entire city," said Turner Vanhooreweghe, Carpetland Manager. "It's important to make sure they are clean and everybody takes a part in monitoring them and keeping them clean."

The manager says the site is very important to the community in addition to the other three sites in Waterloo.
