UPDATE: No attempted child abduction in Butler County

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Butler County Sheriffs say what they thought was a possible abduction of a child last night in Greene is a false alarm. There was not an attempted abduction.

They told us over the phone three men were in the Bridgeway Convenience Store parking lot. One of them started yelling at an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old to apparently scare them. They didn't try to abduct them.

Charges are pending.

The Butler County Sheriff's Department is investigating an attempted abduction.

The department is not releasing any other information at this time.  However, people in the area are telling KWWL via a phone call and Facebook that it happened near the Bridgeway Convenience Store in Greene Thursday evening.

KWWL is also being told by people that the suspect is an older man with a beard, raspy voice, possibly cross-eyed, and drives a light-colored mini van.

This is a developing story.  Stay with KWWL on air and online for updates as more information becomes available.
