Tigers steal the show at Dubuque County Fair

Posted: Updated:

When you head to any county fair in Eastern Iowa, you expect to see cows, sheep, pigs or ducks.

But tigers?  Not usually.

But this year at the Dubuque County Fair, that's exactly what you can see.

Bruno's Tiger Show is performing three shows daily at the Dubuque County Fair this week, much to the delight of many fans.

"This blew my mind," said 12-year-old Josie Boyle. "I thought it was really unexpected. I mean, how can little Dubuque Iowa get a tiger show? I did not realize that this would happen."

That novelty is something Brunon, who's a third-generation tiger performer, loves too.

"Kids, or even some adults, have never seen a live tiger in their life. So I find that very cool that I can bring that and show them a big, beautiful animal," said Brunon Blaszak.

And whether they were jumping through hoops, rolling around on command, or even daring the high wire, they were doing it to rave reviews.

"I thought it was just amazing. How can a tiger walk on a trapeze? I can't even do that," said 10-year-old Luke Boyle.

"I really liked it, in my opinion," said 10-year-old Garret Kluesner.

And 8-year-old Dominick Hammerand agreed, saying he liked the names of the tigers.

You can see the tigers for free three times a day at the Dubuque County Fair this week.
