Eastern Iowa man accused of assaulting deputies

A Spillville man is accused of making threats to officers, resisting arrest and then assaulting two deputies once he was in custody.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says Jeremy Meyer is now in the Winneshiek County Jail, but racked up several charges in the process.

Officers say the ordeal started when they were called to a report of trespassing at a house along Highway 9 near Ridgeway on Monday around 3:43 p.m. They found the 45-year-old Meyer there -- and say he began making threats to several people at the scene. He resisted arrested but was eventually taken to the jail, where he's accused of assaulting the two deputies. One was injured in the struggle, according to the sheriff's office.

Meyer is charged with Felony Assault on a Peace Officer, Aggravated Misdemeanor Assault on a Peace Officer, Interference with Official Acts and four counts of first degree Aggravated Misdemeanor Harassment and Trespassing.
