ANAMOSA (KWWL) -

Anamosa and a number of other towns along the Wapsipinicon River are preparing as it's expected to hit flood stage later today.

According to the National Weather Service, the Wapsi River will hit flood stage, which is 14.5 feet, sometime this afternoon.

Jones County Emergency Management Coordinator Brenda Leonard says she doesn't believe any homes will be affected by the floods.

"Due to buy outs of homes and mitigation efforts by cities, the flood risk has been lowered across the county," she said.

But Leonard said some roads will have to be closed down as the river continues to rise.

The Wapsi is expected to crest at 20 feet sometime Wednesday evening.
