FLOODING UPDATE: Power coming back in Sumner

Here's the latest from Bremer County Emergency Management about the flooding crisis in Sumner:

Sumner Municipal Light and Power employees and contractors are working to restore emergency generated electrical power for the city. This effort will continue into the evening/overnight hours.

The “Boil Water Order” remains in effect until further notice.

The damage assessment will continue on Monday. Residents will be asked a brief series of questions regarding damages from the flash flooding. It is important that this assessment is conducted for reporting to Iowa Homeland Security for POSSIBLE disaster assistance.

Clean-up kits and bottled water are available at the Recycling Center.

Meals/water are being provided by Salvation Army at the Community Memorial Hospital parking lot.

The Red Cross emergency evacuation shelter remains open at the Chapel at Hillcrest Home.
